In addition, you can soak in the natural hot springs and relax in the middle of nature.
Early in the morning ready to start our trek. Our guide will pick you up from your hotel and we will drive through the Sacred Valley until we reach the city of Calca to head to the town of Lares, the trip takes approx. 3 hours. Once we arrive to the town, we go up to the hot springs where we can relax and enjoy these beautiful outdoor hot springs. Lunch is provided here, our bus waits for us during this time and then we continue our journey for about 20 minutes to the beginning of the trail known as Pascana.
From here we start our trek to Quishuarani. Here we meet our rider and pack the horses. The hike will take us about 2:30 hours. When we arrive, our camp would have been set up for us. In the free time we have we can meet some of the local “campesinos” and see some weaving techniques. This is a lovely day full of great scenery and the opportunity to visit several Andean villages.
This morning we leave early, as this will be our longest day on the trek to Lares. We will hike approx. 7 hours today with lunch at noon. We begin our ascent to the highest point of the trek, the Pachacutec Pass (4,450m.). From the pass you will be rewarded with magnificent views of Lake Pachacutec and the snow-capped peaks of Pitusiray, Sawasiray and Chicon. Then, the trail continues downhill for approximately 2:30 hours to the village of Cancha Cancha, where we have our campsite waiting for us. Today you have the opportunity to see a lot of wildlife, fauna and flora.
After a delicious breakfast during the hike from Lares, we start our easy hike today. We will walk downhill for approx. 5 hours to the village of Huaran. From there we take local transportation to the village of Ollantaytambo, a beautiful well preserved Andean village. Depending on your train time, you will have time to explore before boarding the train to Aguas Calientes.
