The Salkantay Pass is the highest and most challenging point on the famous Salkantay Trek in the Vilcabamba mountain range, near Cusco, Peru.
This mountain pass sits at an impressive altitude, generally recorded between 4,600 and 4,650 meters above sea level (approximately 15,190 feet).
It is known for its spectacular views of the imposing snow-capped Apu Salkantay (6,271 m) and its cold, unpredictable alpine weather. Reaching the pass represents the greatest challenge of the trek.
