This is a tour combines the fantastic trek of Salkantay with a biking and zip lining experience
We will pick you up at 10 am from your hotel, where you will meet your Bioandean Expeditions trekking team. From here, we will go in our private transportation for a 3-hour trip to the camp in Soraypampa, located at 3,800 m.a.s.l. We will arrive just in time to have lunch in our luxury Domes.
In the camp, your guide will show you the facilities of our luxurious Dome, so after Lunch we will walk for 3 hours (round trip) to visit the Blue Lagoon of Humantay, we will spend the night in our exclusive Luxury Domes, we will have dinner together with some hot drinks. Your night will be accompanied by the countless stars that adorn the night sky and we make a campfire to enjoy the stars.
After a good night’s rest, we wake up early to enjoy a delicious breakfast before the trek. During this morning, there will be a short team presentation between all trekkers and Bioandean staff to ensure a positive and family friendly experience. After the presentation, you will hand your duffel bags to the muleteers to carry.
This will be a hike of approx. 3 hours along a steady ascent to the Salkantay Pass at 4,650 m.a.s.l. the highest point of the walk. Once here, you will be rewarded with hot drinks before continuing on!
From the Salkantay pass, it will only be 1 hour more to our lunch point in Wayracmachay. After lunch, we will only walk for 2 more hours through the cloud forest to Chaullay, where we will take a 1-hour transport to our exclusive Domos camp at Playa Sahuayaco.
We will have an early breakfast, so after breakfast we will have the coffee experience, we will be able to see the coffee process, (harvest, roast, grind), then we will prepare for our adrenaline filled zipline activity, then we will do the biking for approx. 3 hours to the natural hot springs of Santa Teresa, where we will enjoy the natural hot springs for approx. 2 hours, finally we will be transported to our camp where we will have dinner and enjoy a good campfire.
After a hearty breakfast, we head uphill for 2-3 hours to Llaqtapata (2700 m / 8900 feet), where we are met with a distant but very special view of Machu Picchu from the southwest, a view few tourists ever get to see, an added value is the Llaqtapata Quechua site, which have been recently restored, we will have a great view of Machu Picchu. We then begin our final descent to the Aobamba River through lush forests, orchards, and coffee plantations (2-3 hour descent). Then after lunch we will walk for 2 hours and a half from Hydroelectric to Aguas Calientes and spend the night in Aguas Calientes town in our 4**** hotel.
Today will be the most important day of your expedition, to make the most of the day, we encourage all groups to have an early breakfast before taking one of the first buses to Machu Picchu (starting at 5:30 am). The hotel will store your bags while you are in Machu Picchu. In this way, you will only have to carry your personal backpack with all the essentials to Machu Picchu. The bus ride from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu will take approx. 30 minutes.
Once in Machu Picchu, your guide will introduce you to the beauty of Machu Picchu. You will head straight to a well-sought spot from where you will watch the sunrise and take pictures. Your guide will then lead you through the main sectors of the citadel, for a total of 2.5 hours. During this guided tour, you will learn a little more about the history and culture of the Inca Empire. At the end of the tour, you will have some time to yourself or you can hike Huayna Picchu* your guide will show you where to start this hike, which will take no more than 2 hours round trip.
For your return from Machu Picchu, we recommend that you start returning to the town of Aguas Calientes no later than 2 hours before the departure of your train. Your guide will inform you of your train times before your return. The return train from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo will take approx. 2 hours. In Ollantytambo, our Bioandean Expeditions staff will be waiting for you right at the exit door of the station ready to take you back to Cusco by car. The drive to Cusco will be approx. 2 hours and you will be dropped off at your hotel in Cusco.
