On this tour, you will immerse yourself in the grandeur of the Inca past while exploring the impressive archaeological remains still preserved in the city. You will visit emblematic sites such as the Plaza de Armas, where you can admire the majesty of the Cathedral of Cusco and the Church of the Company of Jesus, which exhibit impressive colonial architecture.
Qoricancha - Sacsayhuaman - Q’enqo - Puka Pukara - Tambomachay - Cusco
You will be picked up at your hotel at 1:30 pm for a tour of Cusco’s historical monuments, with transportation around the sites provided by a tourist bus. At Cusco’s Plaza de Armas, we will see the 17th century baroque Cathedral built on the site where the palace of the Inca Wiracocha once stood, partly with stones taken from the Sacsayhuaman Fortress.
Then we will move to the religious center Qoricancha (Temple of the Sun), where offerings were offered to the supreme Inca deity, although its gold was plundered by the Spaniards, you will still have the opportunity to see some of the best Inca stones.
We will then move outside Cusco, where you will marvel at the massive stones that form the Sacsayhuaman Fortress before continuing on to Q’enqo, a sanctuary dedicated to the earth deity Pachamama and the astronomical calendar, Tambomachay, the “Baths of the Inca” with its artificial waterfalls, canals and aqueducts channeled through the terraced rocks, supplied by nearby springs, and Puka Pukara, believed to have been a fortress protecting the entrance to Tambomachay.
