Our tour will begin with a brief introduction to the history of the Incas and their empire, which extended over much of South America. Then, we will head to the Sacred Valley, where we will be able to appreciate the beauty of the mountainous landscapes as we delve into the daily life of the local communities. Once in Huchuy Qosqo, we will witness the majesty of this archaeological complex. We will explore the ruins, admire the Inca architecture and learn about the function and meaning of the different buildings. We will immerse ourselves in the past, imagining what life was like in this place centuries ago.
Cusco - Patabamba - Huchuy Qosqo - Lamay - Cusco
We will pick you up approx. 05:30 am from your hotel, with private vehicle for 1:30 hours to the community of Patabamba located at 3,700 m.a.s.l. on the route we pass Sacsayhuaman and Tambomachay before arriving to the Sacred Valley of the Incas beautiful Andean town with incredible landscapes in the land of great wool weavers, they use ancestral Inca techniques to create incredible textiles. We will pass through some small communities like Siwas, Q’enqo and Pumamarka, where you can see the locals cultivating their land with potatoes and beans as their ancestors did. This small valley is beautiful with many native trees, flowers and bushes.
Our hike will begin with a gentle hike up a small ravine after 2 hours, then we have to climb about 400 m. to reach the ruins of Pumamarka, the hike from here is 1 hour to reach the Inca site of Huchuy Qosqo, recently restored by archaeologists, located at 3,450 m. From this point, it is clear to see many beautiful mountains such as Chicon, Pitusiray, Sawasiray, Wakay willka or Veronica, the ancient sacred Apus mountains so respected and venerated by the descendants of the Incas who lived in these valleys for centuries.
